Ex-council chief dies at age 89

A former councillor who acted as chairman of Three Rivers District Council has died at the age of 89.

Derek Frankland was also a former school headteacher and governor in Mill End and Chorleywood, and was on the National Council for the Association of Head Teachers.

Cllr Martin Trevett said “Derek was a highly respected and positive member of the community. I knew him for over 30 years, he was my friend and colleague, supporter and I will miss him sorely.

“We will all be thinking of his family at this time and hold fond memories of his time with us.”
